FOAM is a low cost, open source radio protocol made for blockchain applications needing verified location services independent of GPS. Our team is committed to building unprecedented use cases that offer a high level of security and resiliency, offering new solutions over conventional geospatial technologies. Proof of Location is a critical prerequisite for the further development of Web3 use cases, accelerating a world where smart contracts interact with the physical world.

The Foamspace team is based out of the New Lab at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, an interdisciplinary workspace designed to support urban entrepreneurs leveraging advanced technologies and are a Remote friendly company. We are expanding our team with a number of exciting roles to support the launch of our network.

Salary Range:
$140k - $200k + equity

Target hire date range April 2022-May 2022

Responsibilities

  • Write performant, idiomatic Haskell and PureScript code that will run on a decentralized fleet of radios that enable a grassroots Proof-of-Location network.
  • Test and benchmark code to validate its performance and correctness.
  • Write documentation that you would feel proud to show others.
  • Provide disciplined, thoughtful input on architectural decisions to build robust distributed systems.
  • Work collaboratively with different teams to deliver compelling, novel products.
  • Bring a unique vibe to our team with your experiences, tastes, and perspectives.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3+ years experience working extensively with Haskell and/or PureScript. You have worked in other programming languages in the past and have a well-rounded set of software engineering chops.
  • Possess a strong grasp of systems engineering principles, and have a good intuition on how to reason about design trade-offs and other engineering decision making processes.
  • A creative and thoughtful approach to solving complex problems.
  • Comfortable with modern containerization infrastructure such as Docker and familiarity with contemporary application infrastructure.
  • Familiar with blockchain concepts, especially programmable blockchains such as Ethereum.
  • Track record of learning new technologies and concepts quickly.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively, as needed.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills in English.
